HVAC Apprentice
Freeze & Flare Heat & Air, LLC is currently accepting job applications for HVAC Installation Technician I. Our company is based in McAlester, OK and we service clients throughout Southeast Oklahoma. - Work Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm, with one-half (1/2) hour lunch; some overtime may be required
- Job Description: HVAC Apprentice works side by side with an Installation Technician and/or a Service Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain and install a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residential and commercial applications. The HVAC Apprentice focuses on improving their industry knowledge working side by side Installation and/or Service Technicians to promote to HVAC Service Technician I or HVAC Installation Technician I.
- Reports to: Installation Technician/Service Technician
- Supervises: Assigned Helper/Apprentice
Primary Job Functions
- Able to effectively communicate politely to co-workers, clients, and guests. Punctual and able to follow directions with a positive attitude. Able to utilize mobile device, iPad, or laptop. Learn to utilize a client relationship management system (CRM) to follow schedules and complete job checklists, service repair orders, installation job orders and manage time efficiently with the CRM system.
- Maintain a professional appearance. Complete a vehicle safety checklist. Use navigation software when needed to assist the Installation or Service Technician to a job location.
- Learn where the tools are in the office/shop and on vehicles. Anticipate what the Installation or Service Technician needs and bring tools, parts and equipment to the Installation or Service Technician.
- Assist with loading parts, tools and materials required for projects into the company vehicle each morning. Keep company vehicles organized. Remove trash from company vehicles. Operate trucks, tools, and equipment safely.
- Know the terminology of most parts, tools, and equipment. Learn equipment nomenclature. Learn to dry fit copper lines and braze copper joints together.
- Diagnose minor problems and learn to diagnose and/or install residential/commercial heating and cooling equipment. Learn to perform assessments of entire system(s). Learn to provide clients repair options and recommendations based on overall system conditions.
- Able to perform maintenance on residential/commercial furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, package units and air conditioners.
- Assist with the installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in residential homes, commercial buildings, multi, single-family and commercial new construction.
- Demonstrate the willingness to learn more industry knowledge and practices daily from co-workers to gain industry licensing through on the job training and experience to promote to an HVAC Installation or Service Technician I.
- Additional job duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and clean MVR
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be drug-free and able to pass new-hire and random drug screenings
- Demonstrate willingness to invest in hand tools used in the installation and service of HVAC equipment
- Demonstrate willingness to invest time training to advance position
- Demonstrate commitment to developing customer service and communication skill
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions as given
- Ability to follow Safety Guidelines
- Study and pass the EPA refrigerant exam
- Maintain a professional appearance while representing the company
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of time working with heights from roofs, extension, step ladders and scaffolds
- Extended periods of time working in tight conditions such as attic and below structure crawl spaces
- Manual dexterity required to operate a range of power and hand tools for extended periods
- Regularly solo lift 50lb equipment, tools, or materials. Use of mechanical devices to move equipment or parts
- Full range of body motion: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, bending, and twisting for 8 plus hours per day.
